You are invited to join EPSU, colleagues from Belgian unions CGSP and ACV-CSC and representatives of Europe's water movement at our action in front of the European Commission this World Water Day (Tuesday 22 March), where we will call for the human right to water to be implemented once and for all.
Speeches will be given by:
- Lynn Boylan MEP, EP Rapporteur on ECI Right2Water
- Jan Willem Goudriaan, EPSU General Secretary
- Union & social movement representatives
Where? pedestrian space in front of the Justus Lipsius Building, Rue de la Loi 175, 1000 Brussels (metro: Bruxelles-Schuman) - 12:00 - 14:00
If you can't be with us in person you can still show your support. You can do this by :
Sharing our new graphic
Share the attached graphic on social media on 22 March, targeting President Jean-Claude Juncker and Commissioners Karmenu Vella and Neven Mimica.
Our suggested tweet is:
"#Right2Water is long overdue - @EPSUnions says "Time to act!" @EU_Commission @KarmenuVella @MimicaEU [new graphic]", but feel free to personalise your message and translate it into your own language.
Pledging your support
We are collecting names to be added to a "message in a bottle" to the Commission. Supporters are encouraged to pledge their name, which will then be added to paper water droplets that will be collected in a bottle to hand to the Commission. The water droplet pledges will read:
"1.8 million signatures & two years later... European Commission: Time to ACT on Right2Water" and "Right2Water: Commission time to ACT!", but supporters can write personalised messages of one or two lines if they so wish. Please indicate if you wish to remain anonymous.
Photo action with Right2Water graphic
You can also print out the attached graphic and take a picture with it of you and other colleagues, to send to EPSU Secretariat and share on social media. In your email, please indicate the names / team in the photograph so that we can add this to our "message in a bottle".
Spread the word
Finally, please spread the word about our action! We want to create as much noise about the Commission's failure to act on Right2Water as possible on 22 March, and every tweet and pledge of support helps!
